Privacy notice

What I collect, and what I do with it.

Last updated 10 September 2026.

This notice explains what information Thin Blue Line Notary ("I", "me") collects through tblnotary.com, how it is used, and how long it is kept. It is written to be read, not to be impressive.

What this website collects

The site collects nothing unless you send it to me. There are no advertising trackers, no Meta pixel, and no third-party marketing cookies.

  • Forms. When you submit the booking or contact form, I receive what you typed: your name, phone number, email address, the appointment address, the service requested, and any notes. This is delivered to my email through Web3Forms, a form-delivery service. Their handling is governed by their own privacy policy.
  • Spam protection. Both forms include a hidden field that automated bots fill in and humans cannot see. If it is filled, the submission is discarded.
  • Hosting logs. The site is served by Cloudflare Pages, which records standard request information (IP address, browser type, page requested) for security and abuse prevention. I do not use these logs for marketing and do not combine them with form data.
  • Analytics. If aggregate traffic measurement is enabled, it is Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not fingerprint or track individual visitors across sites.

What I collect when I notarize

This is separate from the website, and parts of it are required by Texas law rather than chosen by me.

  • Journal of notarial acts. Texas requires a notary public to keep a sequential record of every notarization. It contains the date and time, the type of act, the type of document, the signer's name and address, and how identity was verified. I keep this journal under lock.
  • Identification. I examine your government-issued photo ID to verify identity. I record the type of identification relied upon. I do not photocopy, scan, or photograph your ID, and I do not retain your ID number beyond what the journal entry requires.
  • Your documents. I notarize signatures; I do not keep copies of the documents themselves unless you specifically ask me to scan them back to you, in which case the scan is deleted from my devices once delivered.

What I do not do

  • I do not sell, rent, or trade your information. Not to anyone, not ever.
  • I do not add you to a marketing list because you booked a signing.
  • I do not share your information with third parties except where the law requires it, or where a service I use to run the business necessarily processes it (email delivery, form delivery, hosting).

How long it is kept

Booking enquiries that do not become appointments are deleted from my inbox within twelve months. Completed appointment records and invoices are retained as long as ordinary business and tax record-keeping requires. The notarial journal is retained for the period Texas law requires, which outlasts my commission.

Your choices

You can ask me what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Email info@tblnotary.com and I will respond within thirty days. Two honest caveats: I cannot delete a notarial journal entry, because Texas law requires me to keep it; and I cannot delete records I need to retain for tax purposes.

Children

This site is not directed at children and I do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes

If this notice changes materially, the date at the top changes with it. I do not quietly revise it.
